Originating from a family who entertained the Indian film lover for more than a decade now, new-kid-on-the-block Arjun Kapoor made a big entrance with a debut vehicle Ishaqzaade.

He swung by DNA's office and talked with our staff about Ishaqzaade, his journey from film production activities, and much more.

Here are excerpts from the interview:

You are making a debut with Yash Raj films.Is it exciting for you or not it add to the pressure?
I am happy, because I feel that people come into this industry to work with Yash Raj Films and I'm doing my first film with them. I also have two more to go on my contract.

Is being a star son pressurize you?
I am not a star son. Boney Kapoor is a producer. 'Star son is a terminology created by the media. I do not see my father as a star so he did not pressurize me because I purely did not look at it as well. For me, it's just a star. My family name is always well respected and I am grateful that I was born in that family which gave me access to reach a particular point. Eventually I wanted to do it on my own and I am glad that I got this opportunity.

It is difficult to make your own mark when you hail from this industry and I am hopeful that after the release people will see me in isolation for my work and I hope to make my father proud doing good work. I do not think that being Boney Kapoor son would be of some relevance in YRF film made. It is not a typical launch-pad for me, that the pressure would be there.

But yes, people ask. I do not feel it before but now I feel a little bit at a certain point, when people ask me I observed that there was such a mindset as well.

Public is public, they are not interested in your name, they are only interested in 'Jab light bandh hoti hai tab Tum kya kaam karte ho'. Even if I had any other surname, and my job would be good, the public would accept me and if I'm terrible in the movie they will show me the way out.

You come from a film background, not only your father but your cousin (Sonam Kapoor), uncle (Anil Kapoor). What kind of support you received from them?
Each member of the family would support me regardless of what I did. I happened to be an actor, even if I would have done anything else they would like support. Just makes it easier in a way that I can use his experience if I need, I also learn from their experiences to be an observer, I have seen their lives go forward.

In Anil Kapoor's case, I have seen him over the course of many years, being more and more excited about work, and that enthusiasm is not reduced.

In that case you should learn without actually having to sit down and discuss. It would be foolish on my part, that if I want to pursue anything in film making and I avoid taking them into consideration. They spent added benefit.In my house people only have conversations about movies. We grew up speaking cinema, eating films. So, subconsciously it is easy for me, I never had to learn as I have been a part of this fraternity for so long. It was not an easy journey for me from wanting to become a director, an actor.

In today's film is many women-centric films made. Is that threaten or pressurize you?
It should never reflect on your activity, is due to the director you come to make a film. He will do justice to you as he has taken you because he believes that you can do certain things. He wrote this role for Parineeti and she did justice to it, in her caliber.So are equal. Tomorrow, she could get more credit for that, I might not. But that does not mean that we have not tried our best to put them both in the same position. She could turn out to be good but when you shoot a movie you're trying to tell the story of a girl who is a certain way (sic).

For example, films such as Kahaani and The Dirty Picture done well, so it is good, you get more actresses of caliber, there are more scripts of caliber will be written.

So, as an actor I be excited to stand before another actor and say that she can save it from me, and she can inspire me to do better. If this does not happen then you do not deserve to be in front of the room. If you are scared then you should not be there. You must make sure that you are in the movie, it would be only about the film, if the film needs more strong character, if you need a good actress, then as an actor is your duty to watch the movie and not just you.

As a rookie you think this is the best role you could have?
For novice it is very difficult to know what might or what might not work, so you end up finishing it. It was not that I had to take it, is the subject of business.
